My organization has worked with the folks at KTD Creative for several years and we have been extremely impressed. The team has helped us develop a distinct image in our printed documents; continually pushing the boundaries of conventional layout but careful to maintain a professional and clean look. Great customer service and always on time. Highly recommended design studio.
When you work with KTD Creative (KTD), you will be working with a team of dedicated professionals who follow a process for print and web projects.
We listen intently to clients, perform the necessary research, and produce outstanding work. Below is how we work:
Step 1 • Kickoff meeting in person.
KTD is committed to learning about you, your organization, your mission, your objectives and your goals. After contract has been signed and deposit check received, we sit down for a face-to-face discussion about your projects. Having established this understanding, we can specifically define your needs.
Step 2 • Design of two concepts.
Concepts are presented via email of PDF discussed with a conference call or in person at either client or at KTD offices. Logos are typically three concepts, ID Systems get two concepts (letterhead, business card, mailing label and envelope). For print publications each concept consists of a cover and one spread (left and right facing page) using client-supplied copy. For annual reports, we provide a total of four interior pages per concept.
Step 3 • Finalize design direction once concept is selected.
Client to approve by email that concept is approved. Layout to begin.
Step 4 • Layout of text and images. Once client has approved all copy including any charts, tables or other information graphics, we ask that a master Word document be provided to us. In the case of an intricate information graphic, client is asked to provide a sketch that we can create the information graphic from. The key is receiving all materials at the same time.
The following items to be supplied by the client:
- Text in electronic format (Word document or raw text)
- Logos in eps format unless we have them already
- We provide research for images on stock photo sites online. Client purchases all images prior to KTD releasing files to printer.
- If an illustrator is required, we will provide samples of the selected illustrator for client approval, as well as our proposed concept for the illustration.
- Editorial proofreading is not provided to KTD clients. Unless it's included in the proposal and thus contract, KTD will not procure an editor to edit client text.
- KTD will proof all revision cycles to ensure we have made the requested client changes.
Step 5 • Two rounds of revisions
The revisions will be provided to client in two sets of PFDs of single-pages and spreads (left-and-right facing pages). Client is asked to neatly write all corrections in red type on a printed set of the galleys and courier back to us, or, in the instance of numerous changes, to create a Word document detailing exact changes. Client can also detail changes in the PDF and email to us if they wish.
In the event client exceeds the two rounds of revisions, KTD will charge for additional items outside of the contract via change order. This is a document listing items with costs attached. No additional work will be completed without client approval first.
Step 6 • Print Management
Print management includes procuring three print estimates for the client, obtaining a print dummy for client review, preparing files for print and attending a local press check. KTD also has a final PDF prepared for the client.
